Ever After is an American romance movie starring Drew Barrymore as Danielle De Barbarac, Dougray Scott as Crown Prince Henry and Angelica Huston as Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent, released in 1998 which is based on a well-loved fairy tale, Cinderella.
We all know the fairy-godmother, the pumpkin, the elegant magical dress and the glass slipper, but with Director Andy Tennant and Screenplay writers Tennant, Susannah Grant and Rick Parks’ interpretations, stripped off its magical elements and leaned in towards historical fiction, in Renaissance Era.
At first you would be under the impression that it will be drastically boring without Jaq, Gus and all the talking animal sidekicks, but after a while you will appreciate its mature approach especially how they portrayed Danielle aka Cinderella. No longer just a pretty face and a doormat , but someone who is witty, strong willed and independent. She certainly doesn't need prince charming to save her, she can do it herself. A movie I recommend you watch!
